After hours of editing and learning a new blogging platform I finally have something that is presentable for public viewing. If you are one of my feed readers, then hopefully I have seamlessly transfered you over to my new site. Take the opportunity to come over and check it out. Feel free to leave me any feedback about what you like or don’t like about the new (and I think improved) My Family’s Money.
I have really missed writing things, so I am really looking forward to getting back into the swing of things. But before I can really get in to it I need to make some graphs for my (belated) April net worth update. Praise the Lord and pass the spreadsheet cells!
If you're new here, and want to get My Family's Money delivered to you for free then subscribe to my RSS feed or get updates delivered to your inbox via email.

Wow, the new site looks great! No complaints… yet… I’ll watch out for opportunities to take shots at your creative pride : ) Just kidding. I’m actually really inspired to move my blog to a more user friendly format. Is this wordpress? Here are the top 10 things I like about your new blog (some of which I also liked about the old blog):
1. Nice layout
2. Clean looking (no ads?)
3. Good colors
4. The tabs on the header are a nice way to highlight major info
5. ‘Tags’ cloud rocks
6. I dig the personal statement on the right sidebar
7. Link to my blog in blogroll
8. Subtitiles ARE the bomb diggity
9. About me section made me laugh
Thats it for now, have a nice day!

@ Amanda - This is Wordpress and for the most part I really like it. I like the way that Wordpress feels. I like the whole idea of plugins that you can download and install that improve the functionality of your blog. I like the way comments are set up and the ease of editing your template if you know the php (which I didn’t and still don’t, but scrapped by like I did on blogger).
But it isn’t all pie in the sky. There was a lot of head scratching in trying to figure out how to move my feed over, actually use the plugins that I installed, navigating the whole self-run webpage thing, implementing php code, building my own banner, etc. Also, I still haven’t been able to set up a redirect properly from all my old content to this new site. I think that means I will eventually have to completely obliterate the old blog and lose all my precious link building to date. That means My Family’s Money will once again become a search engine phantom (which is fine, but it sure would be nice to keep that!).
Also, I set up adds to appear on the site only to people who come here via search engines. I made the decision because I doubt most people click on the adds when they come through the links from other websites and I didn’t want to clutter the site with ugly stuff. Simple is lovely.
And take pot shots at will. Its the internet - anything goes!

I didn’t know you could only show ads to people that enter your site via search engine. I like that approach. I have to agree with you simple is pleasant.
